Remote and Rural Connectivity: Infrastructure and Resource Sharing Principles

چکیده
As mobile networks (MNs) are advancing towards meeting user requirements, the rural-urban divide still remains a major challenge. While areas within urban space (metropolitan space) being developed, i.e., small Base Stations (BSs) empowered with computing capabilities deployed to improve delivery of rural left behind. Due challenges low population density, income, difficult terrain, nonexistent infrastructure, and lack power grid, remote have digital penetration. This situation makes less attractive investments operate connectivity networks, thus failing achieve universal access Internet. In addressing this issue, paper proposes new BS deployment resource management method for areas. Here, two MN operators share their resources procurement green energy-powered BSs equipped capabilities. Then, network infrastructure is shared between operators, main goal enabling energy-efficient sharing, its colocated platform. Using strategy in communication sites guarantees quality service (QoS) comparable that sites. The performance evaluation conducted through simulations validates our analysis as prediction variations observed show greater accuracy harvested energy traffic load. Also, savings decrease number users (50 case) connected site increases. Lastly, proposed algorithm achieves 51% when compared 43% obtained by benchmark algorithm. demonstrates superior over it uses foresighted optimization where expected load predicted given short-term horizon.

Effects of Reduced Connectivity in Rural and Remote Communities
In this paper we describe our ongoing work on the impact of limited or lack of connectivity in rural and remote environments. We describe the nature of the problem and its potential impact on local and global sustainability. We then present our current and future plans for collecting data to better understand the needs of this often ignored yet important user population.

The goal of this paper is to present new extensions to our remote laboratory, which has been used for more than 4 years in undergraduate courses in the Department of Control Engineering. The remote lab serves as a means of a distant-programming environment, which provides users the possibility to use control systems, widely employed in industrial applications. We have reworked the remote lab co...

متن کاملProviding rural connectivity infrastructure: ICT diffusion through private sector participation
India is vast country and traditionally an agrarian economy. Nearly 70% of India’s population still resides in the villages. The penetration level of the new telecommunication tools is low in the rural areas as compared to the urban sector. New technologies and ICT platforms are evolving, featuring collaboration between the development agencies, academia and the local government. This case-stud...
